Ok I'm back. This time I tested one conservative scoop (not heaping) with just cold water in my blender bottle and it is better than two scoops for sure, which made it thick and overpoweringly sweet per my first review.
I still taste the stevia a fair bit more than I'd like (I'd prefer not to "taste" the stevia and just enjoy the overall flavour of the product). As mentioned in my first review I have been using stevia for years so it's not just a matter of sensitivity or not liking it. It's prominent.
With that said, otherwise, it is a decent product especially if you aren't drinking it so much for taste but to chug it down and move on with your day (though, you'd think selling a product with names like brownie batter and vanilla cupcake, the target customer cares about taste).
My advice: do one scoop not two, don't add anything sweet to it and just get er done. And buy at discount if you can. This stuff isn't cheap.
I do like that it is dairy free, gluten free, whey free, soy free, plant based and vegan. And it does blend nicely unless your ratio of liquid to powder is off.
So there is that. Just wish we didn't have to sacrifice taste to get it.
Ordered from Amazon, just arrived today. I read many reviews saying it's too sweet but thought I'd give it a go for myself. I am a years long stevia user by the way so not new to stevia's taste. Having previously used products like Garden of Eden's raw organic vegan protein, which always tastes a little playdough-y to me, and isn't sweet at all, the BY brand brownie batter vegan protein is an extreme opposite experience for me so far after first shake which I made with two scoops and about 8-10oz of unsweetened almond milk. Blended ok in my shaker bottle. Not perfectly but good enough. I don't find it gritty. With two scoops in this ratio it is medium thick. It is hard for me to comment on actual flavour yet... All I can taste is stevia and I hope the owners of this company are listening to the overwhelming number of people saying it is too sweet. A reformulation with less stevia would make it delicious I'm sure. I'm not sure yet if I can do a whole shake at current level of stevia sweetness. I'm going to try with one scoop vs two and with alot more liquid - maybe straight water and see if that changes things. If I can edit this later to update my review after doing so I will. Summary: not terrible, but way too sweet which may make it hard to drink the whole shake which is a problem if your goal is to use this for protein supplementation.
Edited to add: see my other review. Tested next day with water and one scoop vs two. Better results. Thinner, more drinkable, not as sweet. Stevia taste still there but may just need getting used to. Love that this is sugar free dairy free gluten free vegan natural organic etc
I have tried many vegan protein powders and they have either caused GI issues or contained sweeteners I wasn’t fond of.
Since starting Beyond Yourself, my GI issues are very minimal which next to delicious taste, is a huge win!
Customer Service is outstanding also. Quick and very attentive.
BY FAR MY FAVOURITE BEYOND YOURSELF SUPPLEMENT! HANDS DOWN!!! I have this protein powder every morning post workout. The TASTE is out of this world... I have tried so many different vegan protein powders and none can come close to matching this one. The texture is amazing, it dissolves so easily into my smoothie and doesn't have a chalky texture like most other vegan protein powders. 10/10 RECOMMEND! BEST PART OF MY DAY!
when i first arrived in canada from australia i couldn’t find any veg protein that wasn’t grainy, lower in fat and tasty!!! SO GLAD i found beyond yourself vegan protein. i’m up to my 4th 4lb tub in 2 months 😂😂😂😂 would love to see a strawberry flavour from you guys! maybe a collab ;) vanilla cupcake is a win. for anyone browsing that’s my go to flavour - close second is peanut butter dream!
